The Reality of Oil Pulling

Okay, so I tried oil pulling. I had read an article about all the benefits of oil pulling and thought I'd go ahead and give it a try. So what exactly is oil pulling? You put a spoon full of oil(usually coconut) in your mouth and swish it around for twenty minutes. It's suppose to drain out the toxins from your body and give you not only better dental care but general health benefits as well.

What's twenty minutes in the morning for a lifetime of health benefits? I went out that same day and got coconut oil.

I lasted for about 30 seconds.

"God, that's awful" I'm thinking while spitting out into the sink. YUCK. There's got to be other kinds of oils that are more palatable. I google and find out the virgin pressed olive oil can do the trick. I found that way easier to handle, but still kind of gross. I went ahead and started doing it in the shower every morning and it would make my day feel instantly more productive. I'm so hipster healthy I'd think to myself.

Welp, this only lasted for about two weeks.

Why? Because I'm a normal human. While twenty minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time- it is. When your pressed for being to work on time, taking care of your pets, doing assignments, working out- these twenty minutes in the morning begin to seem better used to do other things. Yes, you could do all of this while swishing oil around your mouth, but it makes me kinda gaggy. Not the way I want to start my mornings.

I'll stick to toothpaste and listerine, thank you.

  1. I've only started hearing about oil pulling recently. while I think it sounds pretty horrible I've seen a company called 'Minty Coco' which sounds better. Thanks for giving my blog a follow on bloglovin' <3

  2. I would recommend my dentist Redondo Beach with the highest possible enthusiasm. No one sets the example of great, friendly service better than him and the staff also goes out of the way to make sure that I am comfortable.
